Eclipse Award winner Take Charge Brandi is by leading sire Giant’s Causeway and from the immediate family of multiple Grade 1 stakes winner Take Charge Lady, champion Will Take Charge and Grade 1 stakes winner Take Charge Indy. She was the overwhelming choice among voters as the nation’s champion 2-year-old filly in 2014 following a fall campaign that featured three consecutive graded stakes wins – two of which were Grade 1 victories. Take Charge Brandi proved her exceptional ability with front-running wins in the 14 Hands Winery Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies (G1) at Santa Anita, the Delta Downs Princess Stakes (G3) at Delta Downs and the Starlet Stakes (G1) at Los Alamitos, all accomplished within a six-week span. She won five of her 10 career starts over five different race tracks, defeating such top juvenile fillies as Sarah Sis, Top Decile and Feathered, among others, for earnings of more than $1.6 million. Owner Willis D. Horton purchased Take Charge Brandi at Keeneland’s 2013 September Yearling Sale; she is trained by Hall of Famer D. Wayne Lukas.

She knows how to win races. She's cruising along, very relaxed, and then that horse comes to her and she surges back and wins. At Los Alamitos, two or three of them did that to her, and she surged every time they came.

This is an exceptional filly. To win the Breeders' Cup and then go to Delta Downs and win and then come back with this race is amazing.
