Stellar Wind can hardly get any better, with nine graded stakes victories, an Eclipse Award and more than $2 million in earnings. In 2015 she dominated her division, capturing the Santa Ysabel (G3) in her stakes debut, followed by a 5¼-length romp in the Santa Anita Oaks (G1) and victories in the Summertime Oaks (G2) and Torrey Pines (G3). Stellar Wind finished just a neck behind the older Stopchargingmaria in that year’s Breeders’ Cup Distaff (G1), clinching the Eclipse Award as champion 3-year-old filly.

Stellar Wind defeated multiple champion Beholder in two consecutive races in 2016, the Clement L. Hirsch (G1) and the Zenyatta (G1). She opened this year with a win in the Apple Blossom (G1) at Oaklawn in April then returned to the West Coast to conquer the Beholder Mile (G1) at Santa Anita and the Clement L. Hirsch at Del Mar, defeating such top fillies as Vale Dori (ARG) and champion Finest City. She now has 10 wins, including six Grade 1 victories, from 15 career starts.

“Stellar Wind is without a doubt one of the classiest horses I’ve ever been around, and is everything you could want in a racehorse. She has a high cruising speed, is sound and has an incredible will to win. That was on display last year when she beat Beholder on the square not once but twice, in the Clement L. Hirsch and Zenyatta Stakes.”

Trainer John Sadler

“It’s been an absolute privilege to campaign a mare of Stellar Wind’s caliber. Stellar Wind has brought me and my family many thrills, and with the Breeders’ Cup Distaff at Del Mar this year, we’re hoping there might be a few more.”

Owner Kostas Hronis

“Once she broke (well), I felt the race was all over. I have so much confidence in her, I knew she’d win. And she showed me to be right again.”
