Multiple Grade 1 stakes winner and millionaire Lady Eli possesses an explosive turn of foot. She used that rare talent to vanquish rivals in the 2014 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf (G1) at Santa Anita in a performance that nearly won for her an Eclipse Award as champion 2-year-old filly. At three, Lady Eli defeated an international field with devastating ease in the Belmont Oaks Invitational (G1). She was undefeated in six starts at two and three and won, in addition to the aforementioned Grade 1 stakes, the Miss Grillo (G3) at Belmont and the Appalachian (G3) at Keeneland, where she bested such top fillies as Miss Temple City and Sunset Glow. After being sidelined for more than year with laminitis, Lady Eli returned to the races in top form in late August in Saratoga’s Ballston Spa (G2). As proof of her class and exceptional ability, she overtook an accomplished group of rivals only to be caught in the final strides to finish second in a race won in stakes-record time. In October, she won the Flower Bowl (G1), earning a standing ovation from the Belmont fans and becoming a favorite for the $2 million Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Turf (G1).
